HELLO VIKINGS OF '79!

Welcome back to THE Kinston High School Class of 1979 website.

We hope each of you and your loved ones are in the best of spirits and health. A lot has happened with us since our wonderful 30th class reunion. Hopefully you have been getting the email updates on classmate news.

Our prayers and thoughts will always be with those of you that lost loved ones recently. Please keep your heads up and treasure the memories and joy that they brought to your lives.

We want to try and re-energize this site by encouraging each of you to post a blog about "did you know that". Just something simple about you, your spouse, your children, parents, etc. It could be related to an anniversary you celebrated recently (or your parents).....or an achievement of your children or yourself..... or a trip you have been on, etc.

We just want to know what is happening good in your life or what you are doing to make good things happen for others. So don't be shy!

Vikingly,

The Class of 1979

Are you one of our classmates?
Don't hesitate to join us if you haven't done so already!
Did you know that......????

Note from Stew Price:
I am writing to let everyone know that a prior demon has finally been eliminated! I have often said if I could go back and do anything over again, I would go back to our senior year and we would play New Bern again in football and we WOULD win this time. I have ALWAYS thought we were the better team, but not that night. Keais was in the hospital IN New Bern and we could see the hospital from the field. They beat us in overtime. That game has haunted me for years….BUT 2 weeks ago, my son was starting at guard for Sanderson High School. (Starting guard, sound familiar?) New Bern came to Raleigh. They were HEAVILY favored. Sanderson has not won a game all year.
BUT they won this one!!!! They beat New Bern and since we are not playing them next year, I do not have to worry about playing them ever again. My son cleared my slate. Life is good.
Thanks for letting me indulge myself. (No one around here appreciated this story???????)

What a weekend it was, I still can’t believe is over. After seeing all the pics here and on FB, looks like everyone had a good time. But I do have one regret, and that is not had the chance to chat with everyone Friday night and I apologize for being an inhospitable host. I think half of you already knew about the incident of that pig picking we supposed to have, for those didn’t, here is what happened. John and I took shifts in cooking that pig, during that time the rain storm came and it was just too wet for us get out there to regulate the heat, by that time John had already left to go home and take a shower and I was inside tries to answer all the phone calls inquiring about the reunion, next thing I know, all that grease from the pig dripped on to the charcoals and caught on fire. Needless to say, it was burnt beyond recognition. Actually the rain storm was a blessing, it cool down the night and made it very comfortable for us to hang out on the deck. Lastly, I like to thank John Grimes for getting everyone informed about the reunion, Gino for the fabulous entertainment, Keais and Lisa for their time and effort working at all the events, Craig and Laura with the facility and name badges, Kathy and her decorating committee, Tim Lanier’s (2) pizza runs Friday night and everyone involved in the planning committee. Right now I don’t know what the economy is going to for me this summer, if my business is still here I would like to have a get together over the Holidays, either over the Thanksgiving or Christmas. I do have an annual New Year’s Eve party here, if anyone is interested getting together let me know. Bill
